Neurodiversity Therapy
Many neurodivergent adults spend years wondering why life feels harder than it appears to for other people.
Some describe feeling different from an early age.
Others receive a diagnosis later in life and begin looking back at their experiences through a completely different lens.
For many people, there is both relief and grief.
Relief at finally having an explanation.
Grief for the years spent feeling misunderstood, criticised or out of place.
I work with adults who identify as autistic, ADHD, AuDHD or who are exploring whether neurodiversity may be relevant to their experiences.
Alongside my professional training, I also bring personal experience of living with OCD, ADHD and autistic traits. While everyone's experience is unique, I understand first-hand the challenges that can arise when your mind works differently from those around you.
Many neurodivergent clients come to therapy because they are struggling with:
Anxiety and overthinking
OCD and intrusive thoughts
Emotional overwhelm
Burnout
Masking and exhaustion
Self-esteem and self-worth difficulties
Relationship challenges
Perfectionism
Feeling misunderstood
Difficulties identifying or expressing emotions
Loss of identity
Often the issue is not that something is wrong with you.
The issue is that you have spent years adapting to environments, expectations and relationships that were never designed with your needs in mind.
Over time, this can create exhaustion, self-doubt and a growing sense of disconnection from yourself.
Therapy provides a space to better understand how your mind works, explore your experiences with compassion and develop ways of living that feel more sustainable and authentic.
The aim is not to "fix" who you are.
It is to help you understand yourself more clearly and build a life that works with your differences rather than against them.
